What Does a Paramedic Do?
• Perform emergency respiratory procedures for people with blocked airways
• Administer IV (intravenous) fluids
• Bandage wounds
• Stabilize head and neck injuries
• Stabilize broken bones
• Resuscitate drowning victims
• Perform emergency childbirth procedures
• Perform cardiac support for heart attack victims
• Administer medications
How Do I Apply?

- Apply on the Ontario Colleges website
- Applicants must have a high school diploma with a focus on science and English courses
- Must possess a class "F" driver's license
- Must have basic first aid and CPR certificate
- Must meet physical fitness requirements
- Being a paramedic is a tough but rewarding job
- Most shifts are 12 hours long, but you do not work 5 days a week. So you could be working long days, or long nights
- This job can be mentally draining. You see a lot of traumatic things because you are the first on the scene of an accident
